My 6 Favorite Vegan Snacks - What are Yours?

applesI am a big believer in healthy vegan snacks. Feeling a little lazy today, I thought I would share a few nibbles that are a staple of my vegan lifestyle. The best way for me to manage diet diasasters is to never get too hungry - which means I snack often.

I'd also like to hear from you about your favorite vegan snacks, and even easy vegan recipes that keep you on track for nutritious eating.

Here are my favorite vegan snacks:

1.
Clif Bars - These are more of a mini meal replacement than a snack since they are filling and so chewy they take a long time to eat. They have protein, but are a little high in sugar, so don't have too many. But if I'm playing golf or out for a long hike, Clif Bars are the best. They don't melt or freeze, so you can even keep them in car or purse for emergencies.

2. Hummus - Dipping celery and carrot sticks or healthy whole grain crackers into some hummus is how I satisfy my cravings for something crunchy.

3.
Cereal and light soy milk - I love Barbara's Bakery Oat Squares and Kashi Nuggets with a little light soy milk and even some berries if I'm not feeling too lazy. Better than cookies when the sweet tooth fairy strikes.

4.
Green tea - OK so green tea is not a food per se, but often a cup of decaf green tea with some Stevia and light soy milk is all I need to keep me going until dinner.

5. A handful of nuts - My favorite is the mixed nuts that come from Costco, but any healthy nuts like walnuts or almonds will do. Just a handful is enough to really banish hunger. And nuts have healthy fats like Omega 3s that are great for your heart!

6. An apple - I never used to like apples, but now I am a convert. They are crunchy and sweet, and I can't help but feel apples help with becoming healthy. I guess it's that old saying about an apple a day...

So now it's your turn. What are your favorite healthy vegan snacks? Got easy vegan snack recipes? Share them in the comments below.

I just learned to like apples, too. I started by dipping them in caramel but then realized if I get really good ones I don't need to add sugar. Tamari almonds from Trader Joe's are really good.

Hello, It is really nice to read this article. Thanks for simple way of writing and giving all the detail which need. Once again thanks. The right time for healthy snacks is often the time after school, in the evenings, when kids are hungry and the body demands energy and nutrition. But if you indulge in preparing exhaustive and tedious varieties, that consume time to prepare, your kid will look for other simpler options like biscuits and wafers. Hence, just like it is important to prepare nutritious snacks, it is also important to do it quickly. http://www.medimanage.com/my-kids-health/articles/healthy-and-quick-snacks-for-kids-after-school.aspx
